Dictionary Challenge(I did this Challenge with Zu!)
Palate -
The diner was absolutely amazing. The dimly lit rooms, the extravagant designs on all of the tables. The candles. The flowers, it was perfect. The wine as the drink. The food hadn't yet arrived, but the aroma of the gourmet food filled the restaurant.
Kiri had never really worn a dress before. It was a new thing to her. But she decided having dinner with Owens at a fancy restaurant would be the perfect time for it. She dressed in her best, but left the make-up off. That was still new to her. She hadn't yet figured out how to match the right colors and where everything really went when she opened the many containers women used.
Owen's ordered a steak, he wasn't going to pass up on the opportunity to get steak.. While Kiri ordered a simple salad. She was grateful to be able to enjoy such a delicacy. The salad would be perfect for this time. Once the food arrived, Kiri dug right in.The salad had just the right amount of ranch with just the right amount of excess veggies. Fruits were added in to top it all off. Just a few, and some juice to give it pizzazz. It filled her mouth with an erotic sense of joy, and she enjoyed every bite of it. It was healthy, and delicious.
Melodious -
The Salad was a great way to start the wondrous night. Everything seemed so perfect here. To be with someone Kiri really cared about just made her feel childish. Butterflies fluttered around in her stomach. Almost to the beat of the music playing in the background. 'Twas a harmonious sound. The sound of instruments being played live, by professionals for all in the diner to hear. Playing the very well known Beethoven. Kiri almost felt the need to dance to the music, she subtly swayed in her seat as she watched Owen finish the last part of his steak.
Owen stood up and walked over towards Kiri's chair. He offered her his hand with a friendly smile. 'Would you care to dance?" He asked kindly.
"Of course." She answered, looking at him suspiciously.
He swept her off to the dance floor where they moved to the slow melodious sound of the music. Both of them feeling warm and fuzzy inside. They moved to the rhythm, and neither stepped on each other's feet. Though Kiri was new to dancing, she let Owen lead.
The end of the music signaled Owen's and Kiri's return to their seats, they looked at each other for a moment and smiled. The smile turned to a laugh, it was going to be a perfect night for both of them. There was a list full of things they could do before returning home.
Flinch -
Kiri's smile seemed to brighten the entire world for Owen. He thought it was one of the better qualities of Kiri.
The waiter came to the table in which they were sitting.
"Are you finished?" He asked.
"Yes." replied both of them in unison.
"Did you enjoy your meal? Was it satisfactory?"
"Most definitely."
"Good." Replied the waiter as he reached down to grab Kiri's plate. but as he did he grabbed her arm and hoisted her up.
"Hey! let go of me!" Kiri was used to defending herself, but not in a dress, not in heels she could barely walk in and not when she was looking fancy.
Owen stood up and got near the waiter.
"Let go of her."
The waiter did not comply but rather, he pulled her away.
Owen balled up his hand into a fist and hit the waiter dead square in the face.
The waiter staggered back.
"Now let go of her, before I do it again."
The Waiter flinched before letting go of Kiri, but he returned the blow to Owen. Leading to a fight. The waiter hit Owen again, and Owen threw the waiter on top of the table and began to hit him in the face. Owen usually was not violent, but being rude to a female, to his female was wayy out of line. And Owen could not let that slide. So much for the wondrous night.
Java (as in coffee) -
After the fight Owen felt ashamed, his once perfect night turned into a disaster in a matter of moments. How was he supposed to fix it now?
Kiri was so concerned for Owen.
"Are you hurt, are you okay? How is your face? Did he break your nose? How is your hand? Are you okay..?"
"Yes... I'm fine. Sorry for ruining the night, is there any way I can make it up to you?" Owen inquired.
"You don't have to, it's fine."
"No, I insist... please Kiri."
"Well.. I'd like to go to a coffee shop and relax.., Just a nice cup of coffee and cuddle up next to you in a chair...... " She shyly admitted..
Owen gave a hearty laughed and happily complied. "I can handle that. We'll leave a nasty note about the waiter.." He added.
Kiri giggled as she grabbed Owen's hand and walked out the door.
Once arriving at the coffee shop and ordering their coffee, they found a nice booth to cuddle up in. Kiri found it comforting and refreshing. It gave both of them tie to relax after such a fright at the diner.
"You think we can overlook the fight and still turn this into a good night?" Kiri Asked.
"Of course. We can go wherever you want. And we'll watch the stars, or the sunset, or well, anything you'd like to do."
Kiri gave a shy cute smile. She wasn't used to being pamper, or well, even liked. She had never even been on a date before.
Bother -
Upon leaving the diner, Owen knew exactly where to take Kiri. The best place to end the night. He opened Kiri's door, let her in, closed in got into his car and took her to a nice empty field. He parked the car in the center, and took a blanket out of the back. Owen went in front of the car and laid it out on the ground. He opened Kiri's door and held her hand over to the blanket. They sat down together and looked at the sky.
The sun was getting ready to set, and they both laid back and watched.
"Owen."
"Yes?"
"Do you think I'm a bother? Am I a bother? I mean.. it must not be easy to know me. I'm different.. Very different... And maybe that gets in the way sometimes.."
Owen gave a small chuckle. 'You? A Bother? Never. Kiri you're wonderful to be around. Cute and funny. Silly and different. I like you because you are not like any other person. Well you're more than a person. You're an angel...You were too good for heaven, that's why you were sent down here. They didn't know what else to do with you, but hope that you could improve earth. You're perfect. What more could a man ask for?"
